Achievement comes in all sizes
How we've grown in the last few months....
The only real certainty that we can have in life is that things will change. And since I'm not big on stagnation, we try to roll with the punches and celebrate our developments. So with that, this post is all about our achievements so far this year.
To kick things off, Number 1 did us proud at his gala, winning all of his races. What a change from the once little guy who needed help getting across the pool. I think he also now holds the position of tallest person in the household, since he's been growing like crazy.
Number 2 finally has a school to attend. After his two week trial, he was accepted at the same school as Number 1. I am feeling greatly relieved about this and think he should do well there as he seems to have made a friend already.
Bean (Number 3) has come along in leaps and bounds... He has now firmly outgrown all his 3-6 months clothes and I foresee a shopping trip in the near future. Our Bean has jumped and bounced his way through sitting, leopard crawling around the house, standing up against the furniture, cruising the lounge, the emergence of four teeth, the introduction of mush, and has now progressed onto eating lumpy mush. It feels like something new is happening almost every day, and it's just as exciting as the first time.
Daddy (ex Mr Stubbles) has become an expert at not only putting on nappies, but putting them on upside-down on a squirmy escapee, crawling rapidly away across the bed. He has also started to develop some serious spidey-skills at catching Bean when he tries the extreme baby sport of bed/couch diving. Bean is a master at diving off the bed head first, and persists no matter how many times he has been shown to go feet-first. Maybe the feet-first lessons will become more effective once he learns what feet are.
And me... well, I'm not sure of any real progress that I've made recently... except to sit on the lounge floor, from which I am unable to get up unassisted, and playing with my Bean. I'm not sure if is could be considered progress, development or growth on my part, but it is a change. We roll the ball around, build a stack of nesting cups to bash down (quite cathartic for anyone who has never done it), and construct the tower of rings just to pull them all off again. Bean has focused his energy into working out deconstruction. And I just try to stop, chill, be Mummy, and play a little. Because we Mummies tend to take life way too seriously and it just rushes past... especially with three kids to chase after.
