Easter Upheavals

I has been ages since I last did a post, but here's a quick update...

Wow, since the arrival of Bean eight months ago, I'd say that there is more that I've forgotten about pregnancy and babies than I had remembered. Being a tad older, and having done this twice before, I misguidedly felt that I could pretty much swing it, only to realise that there is a reason for baby books and, more recently, baby apps and google.

Armed with multiple sources of information, I have become the modern Mummy. I sometimes think that perhaps it's the daily message from the baby app that keeps me sane. The message and link to a baby-parenting article reminds me that I am not alone, and that it is normal for the things to be happening that are. If someone actually wrote an article about babies that only poop every few days, then there must have been a call for it and I cannot be the only one who stressed about Bean's lack daily poops. In our house we actually have a day called "Poop day" which is celebrated every few days by the onset of a grumpy Bean, and culminates in a smelly odour. After which, all is well with the world once more.

By the way, I settled on Ovia as my choice of pregnancy and parenting app. There are many great apps out there, but this was the one I settled on in the end. And no, I'm not getting any recompense for naming them.

On the subject of poops, I was very thankful for Daddy's nappy hoard. After a few months, we reached the last bag of nappies. And it feels like I'm now living on the edge, not having a supply in waiting. The nappy hoard was definitely a good thing that he did.

Bean has grown so much now, and is a real busybody. Sitting is not high on his list of things to do, and is only performed when eating, or Mummy puts him down in the position to play for a moment. He much prefers to be on the move either on his tum or upright. He does a leopard crawl on his stomach reminiscent of a pirate's gait, then pulls himself up and cruises the furniture... until he gets stuck somewhere and calls for rescue. One of his favourite pursuits is seing how far up Daddy he can climb.

Bean has a definite set of octopus arms and seems to be able to reach and grab everything at once. His favourites are noses, ears and hair, followed by anything in range. There is nothing quite like waking up having claws grasp your nose and opening your eyes to Bean's beaming little face. Too gorgeous!

  1. What a beauty. Thank goodness that I am far too old to have to go through the baby thing again, for you are quite right and one does forget. Enjoy!!!
